Summer Days Again...

Shedding season is upon us. It feels as if the dogs are losing as much hair as they have left on their bodies.
What can you do about it?
Regular brushing can help. And if you need something more drastic schedule a brush out and bath with creature care. High powered blowers are used to remove hair on larger dog breeds. They love it!

Spring Time is Fun Time!

All the dogs are busy having fun now that the weather has warmed up, trouble is they like to drag in those pesky foxtails!
The groomer Ashley, has been shaving toes and checking ears to keep these little troublemakers at bay.

All the staff are taking turns joining the fun at Riverfest on Memorial Day weekend. Berg Park is the place to be for good food, music and fun events, even for the canine members of your family. Too bad, a cat like me can't join the party!

Remember safety first. Be sure to keep your dogs vaccinated if taking them to public places where they may come in contact with other animals. Also keep water on hand for hot sunny days.
We will have a watering station set up at the park for your thirsty critters, so stop by and see us while you are there!

Winter is here!

Short days and cold nights keep us critters inside more than we'd like. Thankfully, we have warm beds and lots of toys to keep us happy and entertained!

The dogs have regular showings of classic musicals that remind them of home.

All of the gates to the Country Suites have been newly improved! Sleek bars still allow an open view for visiting pups in a safe and clean way!

Spring Time is Fun Time!

Springtime means longer days and sunny weather! A cat like me will spend more of my day lounging outside in the shade and most of my Canine visitors are doing the same thing.

They like to laze around in the outside section of their kennel where it is shady and watch the other guests taking a turn in the exercise yard.
They can retreat indoors to their air-conditioned room and bed if they get too warm, but pleasant weather finds many of them relaxing after a fun romp in the yard.

The nights are cooler and the days are shorter...where did summer go?
Being a kennel cat is a pretty exciting life. Every weekend we've been bursting at capacity and the ladies kept shaking their heads over something called a "waiting list."
I'm not really sure what that means, but I do know that a new wave of dogs and cats came to visit each week.
Lots of regulars and new faces too!

We're spending more time inside as the weather cools, but that doesn't mean we're having less fun!

We're busier than ever! We have dogs and cats staying every night. Weekends fill up so fast we almost always have a waiting list.
Last week we had eleven cats boarding...you read that right. Eleven! have to tell you, its never been a better time to be a fun loving cat living at Creature Care.

If your doggies need a bath or haircut, Ashley is ready to provide whatever service you need!
Come see us soon!

Wintertime is Cuddling Time!

12/29/2013

Brrr... winter is cold! Shorter days mean less sunbathing and more cuddling. My brother Luke and I have decided that it is our new winter sport. Stealing lap time can be pretty competitive in a boarding kennel. The ladies keep busy, so you have to maintain constant vigilance to spot an opening for snuggling.

Normally, we are satisfied with an ear scratch and tummy rub (me that is, not Luke he'll bite), after all, we have soft beds on every flat surface. But when the temperature is chilly, we must have adequate lap-sitting and holding from all humans able to provide it. You have been warned...this could mean you.

All the small dogs who come to visit demand their share of being carried around and held, so it can be hard work to steal away winter cuddle time.

Thankfully, the staff at Creature Care seems to enjoy holding all of us, so it makes our job a little easier.

As always, there has been many more improvements to the kennels and yards. I'll be sure to post pictures of these updates soon!

Fall is here!

The weather is getting chilly and the leaves are falling, which means plenty for my brother Luke and I to do. Lots of dogs are passing through for baths and haircuts, and I enjoy watching them from my perch high above the grooming area. I learn new things about dogs and cats every day.

My favorite part of supervising the grooming activity is watching the big dogs get their Blow Outs after being bathed. It seems to be their favorite part of the visit.
Having grown up in the hustle and bustle of a busy place like Creature Care, I am quite used to the noise of blowers and fans...But I've discovered that it doesn't bother the dogs as much as you'd imagine.
It must feel very nice, most of the dogs lean into the warm air and stretch as their loose hair is blown off. The groomer Mari has offered to give me a blow out, but I'm not falling for that. They already think I act too much like a dog around here.
I have some pride after all.

This time of year also means that the Holidays are coming. It seems like our boarding kennels are always full with old friends and new ones. Not to mention an increasing number of little dogs in sweaters.

I especially enjoy all the visiting feline guests. They like to talk to me through the door. I was a little worried about the hairless kitty who came to stay, but all the girls spent so much time in the cat room saying she was the cutest thing they'd ever seen. I suppose that means her lack of hair was normal. See? I learn new things every day.

Today I have discovered that the dogs love the new variety of toys that Melanie has added to our collection. Every time I turn around I see another dog trotting around the yard with a different toy in its mouth.
In fact, I'm heading outside now to make sure I gather up any of the little ones that have been forgotten in the Small Dog Yard. It's a lot of work being a kennel cat.
