Bo's Blog

Known for his good-natured and inquisitive personality, Bo sees everything. It only seemed logical that he be elected for the position of Creature Care's resident blogger. This Bo definitely knows...

Summer Heat

It may be hot this time of year, but nothing is cooler than being the resident cat in charge at Creature Care Pet Resort.

As always, summer has brought a lot of changes and
improvements. New trees have been planted. I keep discovering ways to climb them despite the fencing Melanie puts around the trunks. I'm not  sure what game she is playing...but I'm loving it!

The kiddie pool is also popular this time of year, especially with the Retrievers. For some mind-boggling reason they like getting wet!

New dividers were installed between the outside kennels. This looks great and keeps any of those dogs who like to climb from teasing their neighbors.
I rarely saw this happening, but Melanie likes to anticipate the trouble before it happens. She's good at things like that. I wonder if that is the reason she never lets Luke and I go outside at night?

The groomers have been having a lot of fun lately. A few weeks ago Brie and Mari bathed an enormous Newfoundland. She comes here a lot, so I'm not afraid of her, even if she's one of the biggest dogs I've seen.
They spent a long time brushing her, but I'm pretty sure the silly dog just thinks she is being petted.

Well, I better go now. Melanie is planning on re-seeding part of the big yard outside. I don't want to miss anything exciting. Bye for now!

Fun Times

Warmer weather means more to do, especially if you are a busy cat like myself.
Besides the usual Spring clean-up taking place outdoors, lots of new improvements are being added, with my help of course.
All of the gates for the Indoor/Outdoor Suites have been upgraded with second gates. This of course is a brilliant idea. It provides another layer of security for all the canine guests, without limiting their view.

A television was installed for our doggie guests who like a nice Musical to relax to. "Hello, Dolly!" and "Mary Poppins" seem to be the canine favorites. Personally, I prefer "The Wizard of Oz," that Cowardly Lion is a great character!

It seems that warmer weather brings out the playful side of our guests, so I have plenty of ballgames and races to watch in the yard as the dogs keep busy during their stay.
I never did understand the fascination with a game of fetch. I prefer a nice piece of string any day.

Fun in the Winter Time

Laughter is the sun that drives winter from the human face.
- Victor Hugo

I know what you are thinking. Nothing could be more boring than a winter day at Creature Care Pet Resort, right?
Snow, wind, cold? All of our guests tucked away at home?
Not quite.

Mud and snow means many dogs visiting for baths and trims.
And the kennels are such a cozy place for the dogs to stay while their owners go out of town, they're full of funny dogs to entertain us.
Just this morning, my brother Luke and I watched an enormous Golden Retriever making snow angels in the yard.
I admit it was quite impressive. Even the tiny Pomeranian stopped to watch him through the fence.

In the cat room, we have a pair of Hedgehogs that are presently relaxing to the soft sounds of Celine Dion.
The owner of the kennel likes to provide a variety of music to keep the feline and pocket pets calm and relaxed.
The humans seem to find it amusing that her favorite CD aways seems to find its way back into the player.

This weekend, I watched through the window as one of the women pressed play on the player. When Celine began to play, she removed the CD and added a different one. She pushed play, and once again, Celine.

This went on for some time before she realized there were actually 2 CD's in the player. I'm pretty sure that the Hedgehogs were laughing along with me.

I am extremely jealous of all the big, comfortable beds that the canine guests are currently snuggled up in. And they get all the great toys. Dog's really do have all the fun...oh wait...

I hear someone typing on the computer in the office, I must go lie on top of their paperwork. They really can't get anything done without me.

Fencing and Landscaping

Our outdoor play areas are expanding!

In the life of a kennel cat, there is nothing more exciting than changes. And boy have there been a lot of those lately!

Rhonda and Mel have been hard at work adding new fencing around what will eventually be a second play area for the large dogs. Since I only have access to these yards during the dogs' afternoon naptime, I really don't care too much about that.
On the other hand, I am very interested in what happens to the small yard.
They usually refer to this as "The Small Dog Yard," and I suppose this is accurate to an extent, it is where the little dogs run around and play. But it should also be called Bo and Luke's yard, since this is where my brother and I spend most of our time during the day as well.
We actually really like all the little dogs that come visit. And surprisingly, most of them really like us as well. Or ignore us at least, which is pretty much the same thing with dogs, right?
So this small yard is a pretty big deal to us. We spend almost all of our time out there. When we aren't exploring inside that is, or trying to sleep in the clean laundry (why this is such an issue, I'll never know. I'm clean too, I swear).

Lately, the small dog yard has been seeing a lot of changes. First a lot of big bags of black dirt were brought in. Then Rhonda and Mari wrangled in some heavy thing called a rototiller.
Now the yard is soft and lots of fun to play in. But I heard that soon we'll be getting new grass.
Grass. Now, I don't know about you, but there really isn't anything I like better than lounging around in green grass, except maybe chasing lizards in the green grass.
I know it's coming soon, and when it gets here, I'll be sure to let you know. Even better, I'll post a picture of it. Brie is always taking pictures of me, I'm sure she'll take one of me in Bo's new yard....that should be what we call it. Bo's yard.
