The weather is getting chilly and the leaves are falling, which means plenty for my brother Luke and I to do. Lots of dogs are passing through for baths and haircuts, and I enjoy watching them from my perch high above the grooming area. I learn new things about dogs and cats every day.
My favorite part of supervising the grooming activity is watching the big dogs get their Blow Outs after being bathed. It seems to be their favorite part of the visit.
Having grown up in the hustle and bustle of a busy place like Creature Care, I am quite used to the noise of blowers and fans...But I've discovered that it doesn't bother the dogs as much as you'd imagine.
It must feel very nice, most of the dogs lean into the warm air and stretch as their loose hair is blown off. The groomer Mari has offered to give me a blow out, but I'm not falling for that. They already think I act too much like a dog around here.
I have some pride after all.
This time of year also means that the Holidays are coming. It seems like our boarding kennels are always full with old friends and new ones. Not to mention an increasing number of little dogs in sweaters.
I especially enjoy all the visiting feline guests. They like to talk to me through the door. I was a little worried about the hairless kitty who came to stay, but all the girls spent so much time in the cat room saying she was the cutest thing they'd ever seen. I suppose that means her lack of hair was normal. See? I learn new things every day.
Today I have discovered that the dogs love the new variety of toys that Melanie has added to our collection. Every time I turn around I see another dog trotting around the yard with a different toy in its mouth.
In fact, I'm heading outside now to make sure I gather up any of the little ones that have been forgotten in the Small Dog Yard. It's a lot of work being a kennel cat.
